SERVE... IN OUR CONGREGATION
Backpacks of Hope
During the school year volunteers fill backpacks with food that feed students during the weekend. Students are recommended to us by school social workers. Members supply food or money to buy the food.
Prayer Shawls
A group meets on the first Wednesday of the month to knit or crochet prayer shawls. Each shawl is blessed with prayers and given to those who are hurt, ill, or mourning. We also give prayer shawls to families celebrating a new birth. Over 250 shawls have been given away.
Congregational Care
The
Congregational Care Committee deals with the spiritual and physical
needs of members. By keeping informed of members who are experiencing
medical or emotional issues, the committee visits those in need, sends
monthly cards and prays for those in need. Two prayer chains are
maintained by the committee. The Telephone chain is initiated when a
need is identified and members of the chain telephone each successive
member to inform them of the specific need. An Email chain is
maintained and members of the chain receive an email when a need is
identified. Meals are also provided from the Congregational Freezer to
aid members as they recover from illness, surgery or a death in their
family. To be placed on one of the prayer chains, contact the church
office or the chairman of the congregational care committee.
